This explains what Betchoret collects, why it collects it, and what you can do about it. Betchoret is made by Kode Foundry, which is the controller of the information described here.

Your phone number and email address are never shown to other people. They are stored where only you can read them. Other users see your username, your display name and your prediction record.

What we collect

When you create an account

You can use Betchoret without giving a name, a phone number or a picture. You can also start as a guest, in which case there is no email address at all until you attach one.

When you use the app

Automatically

Why we collect it

What other people can see

Public: your username, display name, profile picture, join date, prediction record and streaks, and any bet you set to be visible to everyone.

Visible to the people in a bet: the bet itself, its terms, and what each side said the result was.

Never shown to anybody else: your phone number, your email address, your coin balance, your coin history, and anything we hold internally about risk.

We do not publish how much anybody has lost, and we do not rank people by it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We use Google Firebase to run the service, which means Google processes data on our behalf: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics, App Check and Remote Config. Data is held on Google infrastructure.

We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is needed to investigate abuse or protect somebody's safety.

Where it is held, and for how long

Data is held on Google Cloud infrastructure and may be processed outside the country you live in.

Your account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, username, coins, contact details and profile picture are removed.

Records of coin movements are kept afterwards. They are what the system is reconciled against, and removing them would leave balances that nothing explains. Once your profile and sign in are gone, those records carry an account identifier that no longer points at a person.

Your choices

Write to hello@kodefoundry.com for any of these and we will respond within thirty days.

Children

Betchoret is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Security

Access to your data is restricted by security rules enforced on the server, not by the app. No client can read another person's balance or contact details, and no client can write a balance at all. Requests are checked with App Check.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you.

This website

This site asks before it measures anything. If you agree, Firebase Analytics records which pages are viewed and sets identifiers in your browser to do it. If you decline, none of that runs. You can change your mind from the Cookie preferences link in the footer.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app.
